Development Matrix for Multi-Professional Working

The work links in with the Community Infrastructure Programme and developing a multi-professional framework for Wales. Additional  information can be found on the Community Infrastructure Toolkit

In this series of short films, Professor Mark Llewellyn of the Welsh Institute for Health and Social Care, University of South Wales provides a description and explanation of the Development Matrix for Multi-Professional Working that he and his colleagues have developed. This work has been led by Professor Carolyn Wallace alongside Mark and their colleague Sophie Randall, and it provides an evidence-based ‘roadmap’ for teams, individuals and managers to make a self-assessment about their journey towards good multi-professional working.

The Development Matrix is underpinned by a Scoping Review of relevant published literature, and an online Group Concept Mapping consensus building exercise focused on impactful and important data items for Multi-Professional Working. It is designed for those who work within the voluntary and community sector, the social care sector and the healthcare sector, and has been informed by all of these perspectives. The films offer a way of understanding what the Matrix is all about (Film 1), how the Matrix works (Film 2), what each of the ‘domains’ within in the Matrix contains, and what they mean (Films 3-10), and a final film bringing all of the material together (Film 11). They are deliberately short (typically between 2 and 3 minutes long) and can be watched in isolation, or in series as you feel you need.
