Audit and improve local data on physical activity level and intervention recording

  • NICE (PH44) recommend identifying adults who are inactive e.g. opportunistically or as part of a planned session on management of long-term conditions; assessing physical activity levels using a validated tool such as the General practice physical activity questionnaire (GPPAQ); and recording the outcomes of assessment using Read Codes if appropriate.
  • Recording physical activity levels into practice clinical systems is recommended in Getting Wales moving (PHW & Sport Wales 2017).
  • Motivate 2 Move (HEIW) advises that general practitioners audit patients with obesity to see if they have been offered an exercise referral scheme and dietary programme, and to determine their present activity levels.
