Greener Primary Care Wales Pilot

Are you concerned about climate change?

Have you ever considered the impact of

healthcare on the environment?

Would you like to help us shape the future of a

greener primary care for Wales?

The Primary Care Division, Public Health Wales, is looking for expressions of interest from practices wishing to become a pilot site for our Greener Primary Care Framework and Award Scheme.

By participating at this early stage your practice will be recognised as an early adopter and any progress made during the pilot phase will contribute towards the annual awarding process.

We are looking for innovative, forward thinking community pharmacies, dental practices, optometric practices and general practices across Wales to participate in a 2-3 month pilot, commencing January 2022.

Participating practices will be asked to trial a short selection of actions within the newly developed Greener Primary Care Framework for Wales and provide structured feedback. Your practice may have already achieved some of the actions.

A full induction and demonstration will be provided, and where possible monetary incentives are available for pilot practices to test the actions in the online framework and provide structured insight and feedback. We will be seeking views on its usability and feasibility in clinical practice as well as its presentation. This will help us further develop the initiative ahead of its national launch in 2022.

As an additional incentive, a tree will be planted on behalf of each pilot site and a certificate will be provided to the respective practices.

For further information, informal discussions or to express an interest please contact Angharad.Wooldridge@wales.nhs.uk.

New webpages on the Primary Care One website are also under construction to host the Framework and provide additional background information.
